19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to force a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
