Two Arrests in the Aftermath of London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that authorities stated was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused train delays and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
